What if people treated physical illness like mental illness? Rob Hugs asks with his comic series. The question his series really poses is what if people treated mental illness like physical illness? When's the last time you heard someone get blamed for their cancer? What about for their depression? We could tell someone with lung cancer they shouldn't have smoked but it doesn't happen nearly as often as telling someone with depression they should have done yoga. Both might be true, but neither is fun (or helpful) "advice" to receive when dealing with an illness of any kind. How do you want people to view your PMDD? Do you see it as biologically caused or as a mental/emotional hurdle to overcome? A combination? Do you even view it as a mental illness? Have you experienced any stigma about your PMDD or discrimination because of it? |
