What is PMDD?
|
IDENTIFY a trusted adult or a close friend who can help you talk to a trusted adult.
EXPLAIN that you've been having a hard time lately and in what ways you've been having a hard time (feeling down a lot, physical pain, thoughts of suicide, trouble focusing at school). TELL them how you're doing now. With PMDD's fluctuations you could be doing just fine when you go to talk to them. If you are talking to a peer, work with them to IDENTIFY a trusted adult you can talk to and, if it would help you, ask them to come with you and help you explain your situation. EXPLAIN what's going on and TELL the adult how you're doing now. |

I have help, but it's not enough...
Patience is important, but sometimes the help you have just isn't enough. If you're having thoughts of suicide don't wait to get help, call one of the numbers at the top of this page or go to a trusted adult right now. If it just feels like your treatment isn't helping or isn't helping enough then talk to your parent/guardian or to the medical professional who has been treating you. They might tell you that you just need to wait -- PMDD treatments can take a while to take effect. They could also offer another layer of treatment like medication in addition to lifestyle changes or therapy in addition to medication.
